Manndie Tingler, who helped start the cannabis company Khemia, and her mother, Teri Moulton, in Sacramento. Family acceptance of Ms. Tingler’s career has been gradual over five years.

Manndie Tingler kept her secret from her parents, certain they would disapprove. And while most Americans have come around, she knew her mom and dad would still consider it “a horrible thing.”

She eventually tired of hiding her affairs, so she began bringing up tidbits to “gauge their warmth.” Finally, Ms. Tingler told them: She was helping to build a marijuana start-up.

Her mother’s response was curt: “So, are you going to get arrested?”

Cannabis Entrepreneur Plans Manufacturing Accelerator in Sacramento

Kimberly Cargile, owner of the cannabis dispensary A Therapeutic Alternative in midtown, is preparing to launch a new venture: a business accelerator in Sacramento that would help small cannabis product manufacturers get off the ground and scale to do business statewide.

The accelerator space would provide the businesses with a licensed facility, capital and business development services. In exchange, the accelerator would receive an equity stake in each of the startups.

“Although the past few months have been rough I want to take a moment to celebrate successes, keeping a forward momentum of positivity and abundance.

Being CEO of Khemia and part of the cannabis industry is an opportunity to help create change: to elevate woman executive leadership, to create programs and organizations that give equity opportunities to people affected by the war on drugs and to use plant medicine to help heal people physically, mentally and spiritually…especially during this trying time.

Thank you to NAWBO – Sacramento Valley for supporting women leaders and creating a network and community to help us reach our goals and dreams.⁣

Congrats to all the other nominees I am excited to celebrate with you during the virtual ceremony tomorrow. I am so honored and excited to be a part of creating change in Sacramento and hope to inspire many women to do the same.”
